FAQ

How does the plays-like number work?+

It combines wind direction and speed (with gust factoring), air temperature, and altitude into a single adjusted carry distance. A shot into a 20 km/h headwind on a cold day plays meaningfully longer than the raw yardage suggests — the plays-like number tells you what to actually club for.

Why doesn't auto mode work for me?+

Auto mode needs your device's location to look up local conditions. If location services are denied, auto mode can't work. Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Strike Wedge Wind, and set it to While Using the App. Manual mode works without location access.

Why does the suggested club differ from what I'd hit?+

The club suggestion is based on the carry distances you entered in settings. If your numbers are off, the suggestion will be off too. The suggestion is a starting point — always trust your eyes and feel for the shot in front of you.

Can I use it for fairway woods, hybrids, and wedges?+

Yes. Set the carry distance for every club in your bag in settings. The wind card, plays-like calculation, and club suggestion all reference your full bag.

What does the flight selector do?+

Wind affects high shots more than low shots. Pick Low for knockdowns and longer irons, Medium for normal trajectory, High for lofted woods and high-spinning wedges. The plays-like number adjusts accordingly.

Can I use the wind card without a phone?+

Yes. From the settings panel, generate a wind card for your bag, your conditions, and your swing speed. Print it and slip it in your yardage book. It shows every club at four wind speeds in both directions, on a single page.

How accurate is the weather data?+

Auto mode pulls live conditions from Open-Meteo, which aggregates national weather services worldwide. It's the same data underlying many weather apps. Conditions can shift fast on exposed courses — use it as a strong baseline, not gospel.

Will there be an Android version?+

Eventually. iOS comes first because the sensor and location APIs are tighter. If you want to be told when the Android version is ready, email us and we'll keep a list.
